This is the Holy Grail of the, Soothsayer series! And how it all started.
A million years ago...in a galaxy far, far away...I started brainstorming what Soothsayer would look like.
I remember driving home from work, the notepad on my passenger seat, and all these ideas popping up in my head. At every red light, I would write something down. Who Robert was, what his family was like, Violet's job, her best friend.
This first page is what started it all, and though everything has changed for the most part, it's an amazing reminder of where it all started.
I'm someone who likes to learn with my hands, but how on earth are you supposed to do that with writing? Notebooks and note cards became my life line. In the notebook above there are only 3 pages I didn't fill. Every time I had an issue, or wasn't sure about something, I would stop and start working it out on paper.
There are whole plot points in the notebook that never even happen in the series. Ideas that would have been fun, but ultimately, I went in a different direction. What I find the most interesting though, is the things that stayed the same.
At the very top of the page, in blue pen, I wrote the name, Merlin. From the beginning, I knew this was going to be an Arthurian story. Really it was King Arthur and his knights that started this fire inside me, so it was only natural that Soothsayer be about them in some way.
I also love that Robert and Violet meet in the bookstore. That small detail was unchangeable from the very beginning and I still love their first meeting so much!
